“The Thinker”
by Alexandra Surkova
Hidden in the heart of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, I encountered this mountain gorilla in a moment of surprising vulnerability and charm. With his head resting heavily on one hand and a finger pressed against his nostril, he seemed lost in thought—like a philosopher musing on life beneath the green cathedral of trees.
“Swallows being swallows”
by Amanda Newlove
One morning there was a large gathering of multiple species of swallows all enjoying a breakfast buffet of insects at a local pond. Apparently this one wanted more space on the perch.
“Grand Entrance”
by Amber Favorite
A Sandhill Crane made a grand entrance like Tom Cruise in Risky Business sliding across the gravel and barely keeping its balance while maybe or maybe not keeping its composure.
“Gorilla baby falling over”
by Andy Rouse
I was on my 60th mountain gorilla trek when we found this lovely mother and baby. At one point the baby fell over back into the mother's arms, clearly she had seen it all before as ignored it all!!!!
“Face palm”
by Andy Taylor
Seal at Horsey, Norfolk. This seal seems to have remembered he left the door unlocked!
“Crown Trick of Novel Coronaduck”
by Baox Zhang
In July, 2024, in Beijing Daguanyuan Park, we met an interesting wild duck. Its crown can stand freely. This is a handsome duck with red face and white hair. Tourists don't know its name either, except that it flew in last year. Let's call it a Novel Coronaduck.
“Jungle Guitar Hero – Orangutan Style”
by Debashis BANERJEE
Caught in a moment, this orangutan stands tall on a branch, legs apart, casually scratching as if strumming an invisible guitar. A spontaneous performance straight from the rainforest! Filmed with the Nikon Zf, this scene reminds us how hilariously human the wild can be.
“I like to move it move it”
by Dinusha Gunawardena
Came across this grey kangaroo who was nicely relaxing, cleaning and lazing around in the hot sun.
“Surfing heron”
by Tatjana Epp
This grey heron was standing on the back of a hippo when the hippo suddenly started running to the rest of its crew. The heron struggled at first with its balance but regained it and enjoyed surfing on the back of the hippo across the lake.
“So thirsty”
by Valentine des Mazery
Pigeon asking to drink at the pool.
